Nursery

This first stage of preschool focuses on exploration and play as the main ways of learning.

Children begin to develop trust, independence, and curiosity while strengthening their motor, social, language, and cognitive skills.

By the end of the school year, they will feel more confident in routines, express themselves through simple words and actions, and enjoy participating and sharing in group activities.

At the end of school year, the students from Nursery are gonna be able to:

English Language Arts (ELA)

  • Orient a book correctly

    Turn pages in order

    Independently seek books to read during free play

    Recognize initial letters of classmate names.

    Recognizes vowels by their sound.

  • Associate some letters with their sounds.

    Recognize and associate familiar logos (e g , restaurants, stores, teams)

    Recognize objects labeled with his/her name

    Identify some of classmates print names.

  • Identify animal sounds.

    Listen to sounds and guess what they are

    Use and imitate sounds when playing.

    Recognize sounds that are similar to those found in name

    Engage in activities that include rhyme and alliteration

    Respond to adults’ requests showing understanding of what is being asked (eg, answer a simple question with a nod of head, go to wash hands when asked).

    Follow two-step directions with reminders.

    Respond to a question with an answer or details related to the topic being discussed.

    Express thoughts, feelings, and ideas.

    Talk about stories, experiences, and interests.

Mathematics

  • Rote count to 10.

    Recognize most numerals up to 10. (e.g., notice numerals in the environment and names some of them, point to a numeral when asked)

    Engage in experiences related to numbers (e g , counting songs, finger plays, reading number books)

    Subitize (visually quantify) to determine how many up to 3.

    Practice one-to-one correspondence.

    Use counting and numbers as part of play and as a means for determining quantity

    Create sets of objects with same and different amounts.

    Use terms like “more,” “less,” “big", “small", “the same ”

  • Describe objects in the environment using names of shapes (circle, triangle, square, rectangle, oval, heart, star)

    Recognize and describe the attributes of geometric figures.

    Complete simple puzzles.

    Manipulate objects of various shape and size

    Use finger or body to represent shapes when asked.

  • Use size words. (e.g., many, big, and little)

    Compare sizes of objects.

    Explore objects to determine size.

    Sort objects by one attribute. (e.g., color, size, shape)

    Describe the locations and uses of important areas within the home.

    Identify the room in which certain items might be found.

    Identify the types of equipment and materials community workers use.

SEL

  • Identify basic feelings experienced in daily life (happy, sad, excited, angry/mad).

    Learn about circle rules and agreements.

    Learn about compliments, taking turns and sharing.

    Learn about self-management techniques like "Do the Turtle"

    Develop self - awarness, self - managment and communication skills.

Project

  • Ampliar vocabulario, desarrollar habilidad de investigación, creatividad, imaginación, memoria, noción de espacio.

Ciencias de la Salud

  • Primer acercamiento seguro y divertido al movimiento: caminar, correr, saltar y lanzar. Juegos sensoriales con pelotas y gimnasia recreativa para reconocer su cuerpo y ganar confianza. Se busca el disfrute, socialización temprana y bases para la motricidad gruesa.

  • Hábitos básicos: lavarse las manos, sentarse a comer, probar alimentos nuevos y beber agua. Exploración sensorial de colores, olores y texturas. Fomentar un vínculo positivo entre cuidado personal y alimentación variada.

Música

  • Cantar una variedad de canciones sencillas para ampliar su vocabulario y dicción.

  • Desarrollar el trabajo en equipo para fomentar la práctica de ensambles de percusión.

  • Fomentar el trabajo del patrón cruzado a través del movimiento corporal y ejercicios con material específico.

Atelier

  • Desarrolla la expresión artística, además de un pensamiento libre y creativo por medio del descubrimiento de materiales y experiencias sensoriales, la lectura de cuentos, lenguaje, expresiones corporales y movimiento a través del juego.
